I'm experimenting with the Silke-Tweed I got a while back. I haven't decited on the pattern yet, but I'm pretty sure the yarn is going to be a cardigan when it grows up. I saw a tutorial for making center-pull yarn balls, sorry, but I can't remember where it was. They involve empty toilet paper rolls and are pretty easy to make. Once again my cats were very helpful.
1. Make a cut on the toilet paper roll.
2. Put the end of your yarn through it (this will be the end of yarn coming from the center of the ball)
3. Wind the yarn around the paper roll.
4. Remove the paper roll when you're finished winding.
5. You have a nice center-pull ball to avoid tangling of yarn (at least mine work so far)
6. Now you can give the toilet paper roll to your cat.

Olen ryhtynyt kokeelliseksi pari viikkoa sitten hankitun Silke-Tweedin kanssa. En ole vielä löytänyt sopivaa ohjetta, mutta eiköhän siitä villatakki ole tulossa. Törmäsin jossain keskivetoisten lankakerien teko-ohjeeseen (mitenköhän tämä kuuluisi oikealla suomenkielellä...), en valitettavasti muista missä. Niiden tekoon tarvitsee vain tyhjän vessapaperirullan. Ja taas kerran kissat olivat avualiaina mukana kerimisessä.
1. Leikkaa tyhjän vessapaperirullan reunaan viilto.
2. Laita langanpää viillosta rullan keskelle. (Tämä on se pää joka tulee lopuksi kerän keskeltä)
3. Keri lanka rullan ympärille.
4. Irroita kerä vessapaperirullasta.
5. Nyt on sisältä avautuva (mikälie) kerä valmiina ja ainakin minulla on toiminut tähän asti.
6. Käytetyn vessapaprurullan voi antaa kissojen leikkeihin.
